Flashback Wednesday

My flashback project this week is the famous baby shoe. I have created this shoe so many times I have lost count. It is one of the most popular baby invitations I have ever made ( ooohs and aaahhs every single time).

Doesn't it make you want to have a baby?
This one was used to hold a gift card (as you can see on the top of the box)

The shoe is made with Basic Grey paper, a few brads, ribbon and a Prima flower...not much to it. I think you'll agree that the presentation (clear box) makes a huge difference.
See ya tomorrow!

In love with my Cricut Expression

Wow, it seems like forever from the last time I posted. The weekend went by so fast :( I didn't get much done.

But I did get a chance to play with my Cricut machine and the Cricut Design studio on Sunday. I was waiting to get my hands on a Cricut deep blade to cut chipboard and I finally got one (thanks babe). So here is my first project...I hope you like it...

As you can see, I created a word book using the Story Book Cartridge (my favorite) and Basic Grey's Urban Prairie.

I took pictures of each page so that you can see why I haven't had a chance to blog. It took me a couple of days to put this together but I looooove how it turned out. Sorry for the bad pics! I will probably replace them with pics taken outdoors..

love those sunburst with cute little button centers...

This was my favorite page..

I used so many different embellishments that it would be a long list to post...BUT if you would like more information I would be happy to help...

Ahoy Matey!!

About 4 yrs ago I had a Pirate birthday bash for my sons...It was the best party I have ever hosted. I recently came across the birthday party invitation and was inspired to make a creative Pirate birthday card...

The birthday party invitation for the boys is in the wood-like container in this picture. And the black suede material pouch was the goody bag. The treasure chest card is the card I created last night...

The funny thing about me is....I run around with ideas in my head and just have to sit and create them or else I will go nuts...But last night I was having a hard time putting together the idea in my head (I almost gave up for the night)... And then....it hit me and I ran with it. I am really happy with the way it turned out..

Here are a few more pics with details...

the inside of the card...
I am so happy with these pictures... I took them on some large rocks that we have at our Preschool garden. Don't they look better? I think from now on I will be taking more pics outdoors :)

Have a good weekend!

P.S. Last night I decided I would post some pictures of the 2 page LO I put together of pictures taken from the pirate party. The layout includes the personalized chocolate gold coins I placed on the tables as decorations ( I removed the chocolate :) and filled them up with wax)...
I also attached a piece or two of the fish nets used on the tables....

on the second page I placed some pics of my boys and included the invitation that was in the plastic wood-like containers (shown above)

See, I wasn't joking when I said I love the pirate theme :)

I just found this picture of a canvas I painted last year for a little boy who loves pirates.
I thought it turned out pretty good..

Flashback Wednesday

The project I am posting today was created a year ago. It was a candy favor for baby Alia's baptism. I must have taken 50 pictures of this but just can't get it right. I will soon ask my fellow bloggers how they get such beautiful pictures of their projects...

So back to the project...

These candy favors can be made with several different types of candy bars...
I used Hershey's Cookies and Cream candy bars because the wrapper matched the colors in my project. The paper used for the wrapper had very little design so I decided to add the swirl stamp on the edges to add a bit of color. I die cut (sizzix) flowers out of embossed vellum paper and added a bit of lime green ink. The butterfly was cut out of glittered butterfly scrapbook paper and by using a 3D glue dot I was able to give the butterfly a 3D effect.

On the opposite side I placed three small Prima flowers with small round swarovski crystals. The project was a bit time consuming but worth every minute...

If you look closely you can see a mistake on this project...the words on the wrapper are upside down...not a big deal to you...but driving me crazy... :) Have a good day!

Thinking of you Card

Nothing exciting happened at work today :(
My phone isn't working and my computer took a break too... You would think
they would just send me home...But they didn't!

The highlight of my day was...
I got some goodies in the mail today...my nesties came in and I was inspired to
create something...I need some practice...I know that's what you are thinking..

So this is what I came up with..I know that's not the only thing I need to practice on...these pics don't show the beautiful colors in this card...The bright fuchsia and deep purple are a stunning combo..I love it!

Oh, I forgot to mention that this card was created with one of my new dies from Accucut...I got my machine for Christmas and I love my new toy... :) It is amazing how quick I can put these together...and now my nesties... WOO HOO! Having too much fun around here..

Okay so tomorrow is Wednesday and I have decided to make "flashback Wednesdays" where I will post something I created days, months or maybe years ago....You will see what I mean when I say those first invites/cards were...well...not too cute...but it's okay...I don't mind the criticism... I do hope you can see how much I have improved...See ya tomorrow

Baby Shower Invites

I love babies...I love Baby Showers...don't you?

Well, a really good friend of mine is having her first baby this year. I am so excited for her and can't wait to hold that little bundle of joy. I created a pair of invites for her shower not sure on the sex of the baby yet...So here was the little boy invite...

I used a few things I've had for years to create the baby boy onesie...It's amazing what cute paper, some ink and a little bling can do.

I love these 3D K and Co stickers!

Now for the little girl's invite..I created this dress....

This dress was made with the new Bittersweet Collection by Basic Grey, a few stamps for the chocolate swirl design and a little bling....So cute!

After her doctors appointment....we found out...It's a Girl!
It will be so much fun to plan this Baby Shower... can't wait to show you pics!!!!

Scrapbook Expo

Wasn't thinking of going to the Expo this year...no scrapbooking funds :( but my hun pulled it off again this year and his gift to me for Valentine's was a trip to the Expo....including spending cash, copies of coupons, and my favorite sweets. It is by far the best Valentine gift I could receive...more so because I know it's not his favorite thing to do...but he does it to make me happy. I had a wonderful time and got lots of goodies...can't wait to try them out.

Art Show Day

Today is the Art Show at the Preschool I work at...I love this event!!
The teachers at our school are extremely creative and come up with the best preschool art ever! It is amazing to see such talent at such a young age. I wish I had pictures to show but I ran around like a chicken with no head and totally forgot to take pics.
Towards the end of the day I received a wonderful surprise...My hunny called me for what seemed like the 10th time that day :) asking how my day was going and if I would be heading home soon....I would be off in 2 minutes... Yippey!!! Four day weekend for us!!...but soon I learned that something should have arrived earlier...my hunny asked me to wait a bit...In his words "find something to work on for a few minutes"...A few minutes turned into a half hour but so worth the wait...A delivery man arrived with a wonderful vase filled with pink, white and red roses...Gotta luv that!!! :) It was a great way to start the four day weekend...thanks babe :)

About me

I've thought so much about how to start this blog...And I've decided to start by telling you a bit about me...okay maybe more than just a bit...

I created this blog in hopes to share my passion for paper crafting....I was born with the love for creating, painting, drawing...you name it, I tried it. It wasn't till 12yrs ago when my first son was born that I really developed a passion for it. His first birthday was my first invitation/card project and my first 4 tier cake. They were both beautiful....or so I thought...till now Ha ha

Truth is I look back to "the old days" as my son calls it...and they are terrible...the cards were the worst thing I have ever seen :) and the cake not so great either... But somehow those first cards and that first cake were such a hit that other people believed in me and thought I had talent....and that is were it all began.

So as the years go by and I create and create, I come to realize that I have no pictures or samples of what I do because I always give them away...I've followed several blogs and love the idea of looking back through years of paper crafting and better yet having a date and thought attached...so after several years I have finally convinced myself that maybe creating a blog for me would be a good idea..jeez what took me so long :)
I am new to all this and will learn as I go and I hope that you find inspiration in my work as I do in others....

Creative Candy coming soon....Under Construction
